1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Regularly reading out loud to your child can help them develop the skills that they need to succeed in school, including building vocabulary, print recognition, and critical thinking skills! Reading 1,000 books with your little one before they start school not only helps them prepare for learning, but you're strengthening the bond you have with them.
1,000 books sounds like a lot of reading, but you can take as long as you need. By reading just 1 book a day it will take about 3 years. If you read 3 books a day it will take less than 1 year! You can count any book read to your child by you, another family member, a baby sitter, daycare provider or librarian. You can also read the same book more than once and count it each time. |
When you sign up, you will receive a book for your home library and a reusable bag to carry your library books in. For each 100 book milestone your child will receive a sticker and coloring sheet. At 500 books they will receive another book, and when they finish the program they will receive a book and a finisher's certificate.
